Anatomy Trains Structural Integration (ATSI) sessions are part of a 12-series and can be used to resolve particular problems, as a tonic for your posture, movement, and is what used to be called “carriage” or how you carry yourself through the world. Your body is your most proximate tool.
ATSI structural integration can be seen as a course in reacquainting yourself with your body in motion. Most of us have collected extra tension through the course of our lives, either from injury or surgery, imitation of our parents or heroes, from our repetitive activities, or attitudes we’ve acquired along the way. These injuries and tensions form a pattern in our bodies. Exercise, and our mother’s request of us to “stand up straight!” may help, but most of this patterning happens below our conscious awareness and becomes part of who we are. These patterns become written into our muscular tensions, or skeletal form, and into the tissues that go-between known as the "connective tissues".

Thai massage uses gentle pressure and stretching techniques to relax the whole body. The technique that Thai massage practitioners use is very different from what people in the West may be accustomed to. Unlike Swedish massage techniques, in which a person passively lies on a massage table, the Thai massage client wears loose, comfortable clothing and lies on a mat on the floor (you can request a tabletop session) as the client participates more actively in the massage. There is constant body contact between the giver and receiver, but rather than rubbing on muscles, the body is compressed, pulled, stretched and rocked. The therapist assists the client in yoga-type postures. The legs and feet of the giver can be used to position the body or limbs of the recipient. In other positions, hands fix the body, while the feet do the massaging. The benefits of Thai massage include lowering stress, boosting energy, improving bodily discomfort, range of motion, and athletic performance.

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronic aches and pains and contracted areas such as stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders. The session can often focus on these specific areas of concern. There may be some active and/or passive client movement. It involves applying sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues. This can help to break up scar tissue that forms following an injury and reduces tension in muscle and tissue.

I use a variety of different-sized silicone cups for cupping therapy sessions along with coconut oil. It involves using these special cups to suction (or negative pressure) through drawing out of oxygen to lift the fascia (soft tissue) to create space, to loosen the tissue, and promote fluid flow. This pulling and lifting of tissue create a warming response that encourages energy movement and frees up the stagnation of blood, lymph, and Qi. It helps to loosen adhesions and bringing hydration and blood flood to the tissues and drain excess fluid and toxins. It can be applied around joints to bring better blood flow to increase the activity and secretion of synovial fluids and to decrease muscles spasms around the joints. The cup may be left stationary, or I may slowly move it along adhesions to promote pliability. Typically, after a cupping therapy session, there are colored marks left where the cups were applied. There are several after-care tips to remember after receiving cupping.

This technique aims to promote relaxation by releasing muscle tension. Swedish massage is gentler than deep tissue massage and better suited for people interested in relaxation and tension relief. Can include either a full-body massage or address a few certain areas. Swedish massage uses five styles of strokes including effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber or with the fibers) and vibration/shaking. I typically will use either a massage oil or lotion as I apply the different strokes. Strokes can be anywhere from slow to vigorous. Can be beneficial for reducing stress, chronic discomfort, joint stiffness, assisting to break up "knots" or muscle adhesions, and more.

Chi Nei Tsang (CNT) is a holistic approach to the healing touch modality. It integrates the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of our being. CNT works with the body's chi (energy) to move stagnation. CNT goes to the very origin of many health problems, including psychosomatic and emotional responses, to many chronic conditions including digestive problems, headaches, chronic fatigue, menstrual cramps, sciatica, uterine fibroids, infertility, insomnia, depression, digestive disorders involving the liver, gallbladder, kidneys, pancreas, etc., challenges to fertility, nervous disorders such as anxiety and depression, musculoskeletal problems of undetermined origin, and auto-immune disorders such as Lupus and chronic fatigue. With a CNT session, you will typically be lying on a mat on the floor, wearing comfortable clothes with mainly only your abdominal area exposed. I'll use oil and deep, soft, and gentle touches, to help train internal organs to work more efficiently.
